Why Pay for Brain.fm? Create Your Own Personalised and Brain-Music-system
Brain.fm is great. I, like many others, have felt its positive effects on my work and focus. But it carries a steep price which I simply cannot justify. Why should I pay $6.99 per month for brain music, when there are literally thousands and thousands of hours of such music available for free on Youtube? One may argue that Brain.fm has a pretty app with nice UI. This is true. So that’s how I started on my quest to develop my own brain music system/app.
The things I wanted to replicate in my system:
- A simple, quick and easy UI
- Four different types of music for the four different mental states: Focus, Relax, Sleep and Meditate.
The final product:
Setting this up myself provided some major pluses:
- I can set up timers, and alarms to work with the shortcut. For example, It makes it easy to set up a 60-minute focus session.
- I can automatically adjust the volume depending on the playlist. For example, the shortcut reduces the volume to 15% when you start the sleep playlist.
- I can automatically turn on DND when I start a playlist.
